Sony Cybershot DSC-G3 Wi-Fi Digital Camera
Whilst we have slowly but surely watched as a raft of cell phones rapidly develop into very reasonably specified digital cameras its looks as though cameras are now set to evolve into offering multi-functionality if Sony’s new Cybershot G3 Wi-Fi digital camera, which offers web browsing capabilities, is any indicator as to the future of compact point and shoot cameras.
Designed to offer the wireless uploading of captured imagery to photo sharing sites like Picasa and Shutterfly as well as video to sites such as YouTube ND Dailymotion using Wi-Fi hotspots or with cable-free ease at home via your home network, the Sony Cybershot G3 digital camera, which sports a 3.5” touch panel Xtra Fine LCD display, offers 10 megapixel resolution with 4x optical zoom courtesy of a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, comes with Intelligent Scene Recognition, and Face Detection technologies (as well as Anti-Blink and Smile Shutter) and, interestingly, comes with a not unimpressive 4GB of internal memory (a refreshing change from camera coming with paltry onboard, out of the box capacities).
The Sony Cybershot G3, which incidentally will be offered with complimentary Wi-Fi access via the AT&T network allowing the uploading of imagery to Sony’s Easy Upload Home Page up until 31 January, has just been released in the US for around $500.
